The First Humanoid Robot by My Side: Rudi Robot's Stage Debut
Even after delivering well over 500 keynotes, I was far more nervous than usual. Integrating an autonomous humanoid robot into a fast-paced live presentation is a technical high-wire act: Does the system respect timing agreements? Does it pick up conversational cues instantly? And crucially: Will the internet connection hold?
Spoiler alert: One of those factors did not hold up seamlessly throughout the show…
200 Guests, Four Chapters – and the Realities of Local Connectivity
This milestone was made possible by Rudi's creator and operator, Philipp Perlwitz, who transformed Rudi into a viral social media sensation within just weeks.
On stage, the dynamic was electric. Even though local connectivity throttled Rudi slightly during the second of four chapters, he handled the situation with remarkable resilience. Very few humanoid robots currently display this degree of wit, sharpness, and real-time responsiveness in front of a live audience.
See for yourself in this concise clip from the German premiere:

Observation: Pay close attention to how Rudi navigates dynamic conversational pacing—this intersection of physical robotics, large language models, and stage infotainment signals where live events are headed.
Next Stop: International Stage
The Cottbus presentation was just the opening act. We are already refining dialogue loops, reinforcing offline fallback systems, and preparing for our next international stage:
Next stop: The GPEC Conference in Bucharest 🤖.
